A Beautiful Bridal Session in Big Cottonwood Canyon | Utah Wedding Photographer

Some love stories don't follow the timeline you originally imagined—and honestly, I think that's what makes them so meaningful.

These two were married in Pennsylvania last year after finding out the groom's dad had cancer. They wanted him to be there to witness one of the biggest moments of their lives, so they chose to move their wedding up instead of waiting. It was the right decision for their family, but it also meant they never had the chance to slow down and create the bridal portraits they had originally dreamed about.

That's where this session came in.

We met in Big Cottonwood Canyon, one of my favorite places for bridal photos in Utah, to celebrate their marriage in a way that felt relaxed, intentional, and completely centered on them. There was no wedding day timeline to race against, no guests waiting, and no pressure to squeeze portraits into a busy schedule. Just the mountains, the fresh canyon air, and two people who were finally able to soak in this season together.

One of my favorite details was her dress. Instead of traditional lace, it featured delicate embroidered flowers that caught the light so beautifully with every movement. It felt romantic, timeless, and completely unique. Paired with the soft mountain scenery, it couldn't have been a more perfect combination.

And then there was his outfit.

He wore a classic navy blue suit—but instead of dress shoes, he finished the look with a pair of Nikes. I absolutely loved it because it felt true to who they are. Your wedding day and your bridal session don't have to fit into a perfect little box. The best photos happen when you show up as yourselves.

Big Cottonwood Canyon is one of my favorite locations for Utah bridal sessions because it offers incredible mountain views, towering pine trees, and beautiful light throughout the evening. Every season brings something different, making it one of the most versatile places for wedding portraits in Utah.

More than anything, though, this session was a reminder that your story doesn't have to look like anyone else's. Sometimes life changes your plans, and sometimes those changes become part of the story you'll cherish the most. This bridal session wasn't about recreating their wedding day—it was about celebrating everything they've already walked through together and creating new memories along the way.
