A Big Announcement in the Mountains | The Koski Family at Jordan Pines
Some family sessions are extra special because you know you're documenting a season that won't last forever. This was one of those sessions.
The Koski family met me up at Jordan Pines in Big Cottonwood Canyon for a summer evening in the mountains, but they weren't just there to update their family photos.
They had a pretty big secret to share. Baby number three is on the way!
And what better way to celebrate this next chapter than surrounded by the mountains, the trees, and the people who are about to become a family of five?
Their two kids were full of personality throughout the entire session, which made my job easy. There was plenty of exploring, cuddling, laughing, and just letting the kids be themselves. We captured the classic family portraits, but some of my favorite images are the ones where nobody is looking at the camera; the little moments.
There is something so beautiful about photographing a family right before they enter a new chapter. Because someday, these photos won't just be their family pictures from a summer evening in Big Cottonwood Canyon. They'll be the photographs that remind them what life looked like before baby number three arrived.
Before another little voice filled their home. Before their family of four became five.
Before their kids became big siblings again.
That's one of my favorite things about family photography. We're not just taking pictures of what your family looks like right now. We're preserving the little in-between seasons that you know you'll miss someday.
The tiny hands. The way your kids still want to be held. The way they fit perfectly in your arms.
The personalities that are changing by the minute.
The family you are today, before it becomes the family you'll be tomorrow.
