Four Generations Together | Utah Extended Family Photographer | Provo Canyon Family Photography

One of my favorite things about being a Utah family photographer is getting to document families as they grow through the years. This beautiful extended family session in Provo Canyon brought together four generations for an evening of connection, laughter, and memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Extended family sessions are about so much more than getting everyone to smile at the camera. They're about preserving family history. There is something incredibly meaningful about capturing grandparents surrounded by their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all in one photograph.

Provo Canyon provided the perfect backdrop for this multi-generational family session. With its mountain views, towering trees, and beautiful summer scenery, it offered plenty of space for both large group portraits and candid moments between family members.

One of the biggest benefits of booking an extended family photography session is that every family gets updated photos of their own. After photographing the entire group together, we spent time capturing mini family sessions for each individual family. This allowed every family to walk away with a variety of images, including traditional portraits, candid interactions, and playful moments that reflected their unique personalities.

Of course, we made time for all the important combinations as well. We photographed the entire extended family together, individual family groups, grandparents with grandchildren, sibling groupings, and special portraits highlighting the four generations gathered together. These are often the images that become family heirlooms and are passed down for years to come.

Some of my favorite moments from the evening were the playful ones. The kids ran, laughed, and explored while family members shared jokes and stories. Those authentic interactions are what help create photographs that feel genuine and tell the story of your family as it is right now.
